Charoen Pokphand Group Explores Collaboration with NUS FoodAI
On 16 June, the FoodAI Group had the pleasure of hosting the team of Dr Teerapon Tanomsakyut, Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer of Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group (https://www.cpgroupglobal.com/), together with representatives from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).
CP Group is one of Thailand’s largest and most diversified conglomerates, with business interests spanning agri-food, telecommunications, digital technologies, retail, and sustainability-focused innovation. The visit was organized to provide insights into Singapore’s research and innovation ecosystem and to explore potential opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry.
During the visit, Dr. Dachuan Zhang introduced the FoodAI Group’s research vision and ongoing work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, food science, and sustainability. The delegation was also introduced to several flagship projects undertaken by the group, including the development of large language models and multimodal AI systems for food science, machine learning platforms for bioactive compound discovery, and data-driven approaches for accelerating innovation in food formulation and ingredient development. Ryan Yow, Zhi En Low, and Yi Zhang Lee joined the meeting and exchanged with CP Groups on local food market trends and Singapore's nutr-garde system.
The visit provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas on how advanced AI technologies can support the future transformation of the agri-food sector. Discussions explored potential areas of mutual interest, including AI-enabled food innovation, sustainable ingredient discovery, precision nutrition, and digital transformation across food value chains.
